Adderbury Parish Council – Precept 2025/2026

Posted 32 weeks ago (07/12) by Theresa Goss

The Parish Council's Precept for 2024/2025 was £69,080 and was increased to £86,350 for 2025/2026.

The Parish Council felt it needed to increase the Precept to cover its own increasing costs for the services and amenities it provides for the benefit of the whole community in the village, which include:

  • Adderbury Cemetery, including the Friends Meeting House
  • Grass cutting in the Lucy Plackett playing field/road side verges/amenity areas
  • Adderbury Lakes
  • Traffic Calming
  • Walled Garden Allotments
  • Tree Work
  • Street Furniture replacement and repairs
  • Supporting Adderbury Library
  • Making grants to village organisations

The increase this year is partly necessary because although Adderbury increased its Precept last year, in previous years, in an effort to help keep down household bills for residents, only a small increase had been made.

As part of the annual total Council Tax bill, the figure per household which is the Parish Council's part is still low at £62.98 per year for a band D property, which equates to approximately £1.21 per week.  As residents will be aware, Band D is the reference point for reporting a Council Tax increase, as an indicator of the average cost.

The Parish Council has been advised by the Oxfordshire Association of Local Councils that it should use the Precept to cover all its budgetary costs for the services it provides in the village.

The Parish Council hopes that residents understand the reasoning behind the Parish Council’s increase in the Precept this year.
